Fractile Merge I

This was actually accidental; I was working on editing some photos in Photoshop to reduce them to black and white for some linocuts I'm doing in a printmaking class when I realized the patterns in the trees and buildings were interesting....After experimenting with enlarging small areas of the picture and overlapping layers, this is my result...I'm surprisingly pleased with it...I usually suck at abstracts, and think this could look interesting as a blown-up print. Comments?

Sorry for the lag in posts again...I just got back from a choir trip to Eastern Europe and will be posting pics very soon but am having trouble editing them right now as I'm at home and my parents' computer does not have Photoshop. However, as I took almost 2,000 photos on the 10 days of the tour, that will more than make up for it!

Also, I just got a Canon S2 IS....looking forward to trying it out very soon!

I've come to realize over the past few months that real life is nothing like fairy tales. Things don't usually turn out perfectly in the end...in the words of Kansas: "Nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky. It slips away, and all your money won't another minute buy."

As depressing as this all might sound, I've found it kind of enlightening - I know that although things may not be fairy-tale perfect, I will make the most of them. Things will change but that'll just make it more of an adventure. I control my own destiny. That makes me happy...

so, now that i've started taking pics of squirrels, i've begun to observe them a lot and notice them more. today, on my way back from class, i was pissed that i didn't have my camera because i had the perfect opportunity to take a kick-ass pic: two squirrels had just finished fighting over a nut when i came their way. the first had won the prized nut, and was gnawing on it when i walked right by him. i was literallly close enough to step on him, and he still didn't move!!! later on, i passed another squirrel closely enough to judge by his anatomy that he indeed was a 'he'....

anyway, just felt like elaborating on my squirrel experiences. no need to comment unless you feel compelled to do so. i think i need to change my subject before i become squirrel-obsessed...
